BRONZE NAILS. Hand made bronze nails that have been recovered from the wreck of a British navy stores ship. The ship sank after striking the feared Runnelstone reef, near Lands End, England on the 7th of March 1806. The nails were being shipped to Milford, to be used to repair Nelsons fleet of Men’o’war ( Including H.M.S. VICTORY. ) that had been damaged during the battle of Trafalgar. The nails are 8-9” in length and are stamped with the Admiralty broad arrow mark. Five nails and four copper washers mounted on a mahogany board 13 x 9” (33 x 23 cm). A very unique piece of history !!
